An antique gold pendant from Gujarat, India (19th–20th century), fashioned in the form of a stylized bull’s head. As was customary for such ornaments, the soft gold has been reinforced with a shellac filling, preserving both its shape and delicate craftsmanship.

The bull motif holds profound spiritual and cultural significance in India. It is most closely associated with Nandi, the sacred bull and devoted companion of Shiva, one of the principal deities of Hinduism. Revered as a symbol of strength, devotion, protection, and spiritual steadfastness, Nandi occupies a central place in Hindu religious tradition.

The pendant is mounted on a necklace of deep blue lapis lazuli beads, accented by twelve faceted gold beads that lend a subtle brilliance and elegant rhythm to the design. The vivid blue of the lapis provides a striking contrast to the warm glow of the antique gold.
