Antique Silver Amulet Necklace from Kerala, South India
Early 20th Century

An elegant antique silver necklace from Kerala, South India, dating to the early 20th century.

The necklace is composed of 15 pendant elements in the form of Taweez amulets, traditional protective talismans believed to guard the wearer against the evil eye and negative influences. Between the amulets are finely crafted double-conical silver beads that gradually taper towards the ends. These serve as flexible joints, allowing the necklace to drape naturally and comfortably around the neck while adding a refined rhythm to the design.

Beyond its decorative beauty, this necklace was created as a protective ornament, combining aesthetic elegance with symbolic meaning.

The pendants are strung on a braided, flexible silver chain. Crafted from high-quality silver, the necklace has developed a beautiful natural patina over time.
